For nearshore and inshore fishing: the height of the river will definitely determine your fishing options. When the water levels are high, you can reach far into the delta and fish can be found closer to the shore. When the water levels are low, you’ll want to stick to the middle of the Mississippi River and be ready to move where the fish are. Offshore fishing picks up late spring and is good until the fall season. During the winter months is a great time to fish inshore and pick up some Reds, Flounder, Drum, or Trout.
