FAQ for Captains & Guides

What is is the leading innovator of our industry: we represent the largest collection of professional fishing guides and charter operators found anywhere in the world. Not only are we committed to providing our customers with the most reliable fishing experts, but we are also dedicated to helping our captains and guides grow their business. We can assure you more bookings per year thanks to our aggressive marketing strategy, and our expertise in search engine marketing.  And we also give a portion of each booked trip to several of the leading conservation and eco-groups…we really do!

What commission rate does charge for booking my charters? charges the lowest fee in the industry with a flat, fixed commission rate of 10% of the trip total. There is no membership fee or subscription costs involved. And because we care about our fisheries, a percentage of the commission we charge goes straight to organizations that stand behind maintaining the future of our fisheries and waterways.

How do customers pay?

At time of booking, the customer pays 100% of the trip total through We will then send you, the Captain or Guide, a 50% deposit when you accept the booking. You will receive the remaining balance 24 Hours before the trip takes place.

How do I receive payment from offers our trip providers four separate payout options:

  • PayPal — We will send payment directly to your PayPal account using the account or email information you provide us.
  • Credit Card — Payment to you by credit card from
  • Overnight Check — If you are unable to sign up for electronic payment, we can overnight you a check to arrive the day of the scheduled trip, less the cost of overnight shipping and handling ($45).

How long does it take to get paid when I’m booked through

The payout procedures listed above describe the payout process for reservations made at least 2 days prior to the trip, in which you will receive payment within 24 hours before the trip begins. We cannot guarantee that you will receive your payout 24 hours prior to the trip for any bookings made within 2 days prior to the trip. In the case that you do receive a short notice booking, you can expect your payout anywhere from the day of the trip, to the day after the trip.

How do I edit my listing/Add photos?

To edit your listing, trip, or add photos: access “My Dashboard” at the top right of your page once you Login to your account. Look for the blue “Edit” button next to your listing and offered trips. Once you select the edit button, you will be able to make any changes you see fit. When you are happy with your changes, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click “Save and Exit”.

To add or swap photos: click the “Edit” button next to your listing. This will take you to “Listing Overview”, go to “Photos” (step 8 of 12) and click “select image” to add your pictures. allows for 14 photos per listing, and you can update or change these at any time. Please refrain from uploading pictures containing any contact information, such as: Phone numbers and Websites. reserves the right to remove/edit any photos we deem necessary.

How do I manage my Calendar?

You can access your calendar from “My Dashboard” at the top right of you page once you log in to your account. Click on a single date or drag over a date range to select dates you are unavailable. To remove a date (or date range), find it in the listing below and click the red “x” to delete it.

What does it cost to list my charter or guide service with

Nothing. Listing your charter or fishing business with is absolutely FREE.

Our unique algorithm means that as customers search, your charter or fishing service is listed with your photos, customers’ reviews, and fishing reports. So the more you upkeep your listing(s), and receive positive customer reviews, the higher you will appear on searches.

What is Instant Booking?

When you are creating your trips, you will have the option to set certain trips for “Instant Booking”. This means that when a customer selects the option to Instant Book, you won’t receive a “Booking Request”. The customer’s reservation will automatically populate your calendar for the duration of the trip, making that time slot unavailable for other customers.

How do I qualify for Instant Booking?

In order to be able to set your offered trips to “Instant Book”, you have to successfully complete 1 trip through After you’ve completed your first trip, you’re able to set as many trips as you’d like to Instant Book!

How are my listings prioritized and ranked within

At we don’t believe in a “pay-to-play” system. Instead, you earn higher listing placement simply by being more active at Our algorithm rewards those who contribute more value to their profiles, post frequent fishing reports, keep your calendar updated, and receive positive customer ratings.  It’s that simple.

Why do I have to list my sales tax & municipality tax?

As the trip provider, you may be required to collect sales tax and/or municipality tax from each trip sends your way. These taxes are dependent on location and you are responsible for knowing and including them in the registration process.  FishAnywhere will then collect the sales tax amount at time of transaction, and then forward 100% of the collected sales tax to you so that you may remit your sales tax when appropriate (note that the sales tax will be on the net amount due to you).

Why does ask if I have insurance or am a legal business entity? encourages trip providers to have insurance for their business and be a legal entity. While it is not a requirement to have these, considers them highly important. In order to provide our customers with best possible fishing options, those who comply will appear higher in search rankings.

How does handle cancellations and refunds?

As a trip provider you select what cancellation policy works best for your business. This is displayed on your profile page for customers to see before they ever book a trip and is included in their confirmation email. If a customer cancels and is eligible for a refund, you must remit any payment already received back to so we can refund the customer.

If as a trip provider you need to cancel a trip, contact for purpose of cancelling the trip, and we will work with you and the customer in regards to refunds and rescheduling.

A great way to avoid cancelling your trip is by referring it to a trusted partner of yours. We treat this like a restaurant manager would: as long as you can cover your shift, we don’t need to get involved. As the original “booked” trip provider, you are responsible for the referred captain/guide’s performance, meaning that any negative reviews will not only affect them, but you as well. You are also responsible for the payment of the referred guide, as has already paid you for the service of this trip.

What if I have to cancel a trip due to inclement weather? It is your responsibility as a trip provider to be in contact with your customer prior to the trip to let them know where to meet, what to bring, and how the weather is looking. If the weather is looking suspect the night before the trip, be sure to be in contact with your customer so they know what is going on. If, on the day of the trip, the weather is still dangerous, you have every right to cancel the trip.
