FlyTime Charters offers highly productive guided fly fishing or inshore light tackle fishing charters and instructions to anglers of all ages and experience levels.  We guide on the beautiful emerald waters of the Florida Panhandle.

Captain Jason Shepard “Shep” will be manning the helm as you enjoy your day out on the water. He is a Panama City, FL native who was raised on the pristine waters of the Gulf Coast. Growing up surfing, diving and of course fishing, his love for the water was constant. He has been very fortunate to fish and guide in such locations as Florida, Carolina Lowcountry, Southeast Alaska, Northwest Michigan, Blue Ridge Mountains, Cuba, and Belize to name a few.  His passion for sight fishing is fueled even more by putting clients on their first fish with a fly.  When not guiding, you will find him traveling to new places around the globe to chase fish or behind his Bow looking for game.

While out with Capt. Jason, you will start your fishing adventure in Panama City and cover the fishing grounds of Santa Rosa Beach, Mexico Beach, Panama City Beach, Port St. Joe, Cape San Blas, and many other wonderful locations on the Emerald Coast of Florida’s panhandle in the Gulf of Mexico.

Your fishing charter experience begins once your step foot on Capt. Jason’s 18ft flats boat that is perfect for fishing inshore flats. She is powered by a 70hp Yamaha engine and features a casting and poling platform.

We offer 6 and 8 hour fly fishing and light tackle trips. Each trip will provide you with rods, reels, tackle, lures, bait, fly fishing equipment, and a fishing license. We will cover the inshore flats and backcountry waters of the Panama City area.

Some of the fish you could see on our trips include Amberjack, Flounder, Redfish, Tarpon, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Tripletail, and Spotted Seatrout.

At FlyTime Charters, our goal is to ensure a successful day on the water while making memories that last a lifetime! Book with us today to set up a trip and come enjoy a day on the water with us!

  • Great Day on the water!

    Created lee flood

Had a good time fly fishing for tarpon with Shep. Unfortunately, the weather and visibility weren't on our side so the trip was hampered from the jump with things that were outside of his control. Despite the challenges, we had a number of quality shots. When it became clear that the tarpon fishing was going to be extremely tough, Shep changed course and took us into the flats so we could get some quality time chasing reds. All in all, a great day on the water filled with good conversation and hilarious moments.

  • Great Guide!

    Created cody bailey

Capt Shepard took myself and a friend out for our first fly fishing red fish trip and we couldn’t be happier. He has great knowledge about the area and approach and coached us through a ton of rookie mistakes. Aside from putting us on fish all day long he is just a good guy to share a boat with and we are looking forward to coming back soon!

  • Top Notch Guides!

    Created Mike Grabowski

Shep and Kyle are both top notch guides. Their knowledge and skills on the water are unmatched. Pair that with their great personalities, you are guaranteed an amazing day on the water. My only complaint is I live too far away, to get more time on the water with these guys! Ski

  • 10/10

    Created William Kerfoot

They put me on the most badass tarpon trip. I was a first timer and jumped And landed a big girl on the fly. Will be booking with them again next year! 10 out of 10!

  • Incredible day of Fly Fishing!

    Created Mary Kathryn Woods

Talk about a trip! My boyfriend and I went out on a fly fishing charter with Shep and couldn’t wait to get back on the water with him. Shep truly loves the art of fly fishing, cares about the habitat and is a true conservationist. He’s as good of a guide as he is a teacher. We had an incredible day catching redfish on the fly and can’t wait to go back for round 3!

  • Capt. Made a great trip

    Created Wesley Reynolds

Shep is extremely knowledgeable and a blast to fish with. You won't find a better guide on the Gulf Coast. His knowledge and company on our flats trip was second to none. He put us on more Reds than I could even fathom, and was dedicated to ensuring we had a great time!

  • Great Trip!

    Created Alex Armas

Shep is the type of guide you wish you had more often. Experienced, knowledgeable, and someone who not only puts you on fish, but teaches you how to become a better angler. Even when we had less than ideal conditions, Shep did us right, and made for a great trip! He's earned our repeat business.

  • Great Guide!

    Created Joe Holland

Shep is a great guide, and a former Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer. Can't think of anyone I would rather have as my captain in rough seas than him. It has been a long winter where I am from and was a nice break from the snow. Had not cast a rod in a couple months and tagged him on the back cast a couple of times. He did not complain and continued poling against a rough wind. Our second scheduled day the winds were substantially worse. The wind and waves would have made for an uncomfortable day. He refunded my second day guide charges in full. The area is beautiful and well worth the trip. The damage caused by the hurricane last fall did not affect our enjoyment of the trip in any way. Can't wait to get back out on the water with Shep.

  • Great Day!

    Created Boyd Faison

Captain Shep was a super patient and knowledgeable fly fishing instructor and guide. My son is a local and has spent much time fishing St. Andrews bay with spinning rods. He wanted to learn how to fly fish for his 12th birthday so we booked a half day with Captain Shep and he had a wonderful experience on the water trying his hand at something new, with a guy that clearly is passionate about introducing people to a hobby he’s spent his life pursuing. Would highly recommend captain Shep for a beginner, or for someone looking to fly fish a new area with a great guide. Thanks for a great day!
